Hotels
Despite the civilian administration's focus on improved incentives to attract greater Foreign Direct Investment, the boom in hotel building still lags behind demand. Hotel rooms are relatively expensive [$80+] and local brands cope well with competition from major international franchises such as Sofitel, Proteas, Le Meridien, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, etc.
Transportation
Car Hire: Although local air-conditioned car hires services are available at all airports and hotels [$8 – $10/hour], major international car hire franchises also operate, i.e. AVIS, HERTZ & Europe Car. Please check their sites for tariffs and rental conditions.
Helicopter Shuttle: Recent innovations are the heliports in Victoria Island [10 minutes from the venue and Sheraton, FPH & Proteas hotels] and Maryland [10 minutes from the international airport & 2 minutes from Sheraton Hotel – Ikeja.
The 10-minute flight cuts off a 45-minute to 2-hour drive [traffic dependent] for those who can afford the convenience.
Airports: Muritala Mohammed International is an ECOWAS regional hub that operates 24 hours a day – most major international carriers operate 3 – 4 flights/week. Its approximately 45 minutes [50Km.] from the event venue – though this is only relevant outside of peak traffic hours [6.00 am – 10.00 am & 4.30 pm – 8.00 pm] |
